STEVE is a recognized expert in capital markets and securities regulation. He has formed and advised dozens of market makers, hedge funds and private equity funds Steve was a professor at the Fuqua School of Business and Duke Law School, founded the Duke Directors’ Education Institute (DEI), and established the Duke Global Capital Markets Center (GCMC), a collaborative venture between Fuqua and Duke Law. Steve recently retired as Professor of Practice of Finance at the Smith School of Business, University of Maryland. Steve spent 15 years as Senior Counsel and Senior Investment Officer at the International Finance Corporation, the private sector affiliate of the World Bank where he was responsible for capital market development, including debt conversion and venture capital and private equity funds. He has extensive experience in global capital markets and was instrumental to the development of many closed-end country funds for emerging markets. Steve was an associate at Cleary Gottlieb in Rio and New York with a specialization in securities regulation.
